Max Payne is a police officer (with a foreboding name, at that) who tragically watches his wife and son being killed at the hands of a gang of drug addicts. But this isn’t just your ordinary, everyday street drug. It’s a new synthetic drug that is making the young people of New York City go absolutely crazy. In honor of his deceased wife and son, Max Payne decides to join up with the anti-drug brigade with the intention of getting this new drug off the streets and discovering who has been manufacturing and distributing it. Max Payne is a game that is part comic, part audiovisual fiction, and part action/adventure game. The background story is narrated to us in the form of a comic, we are shown several scenes during the game in the form of flashbacks that help us understand the story more in depth, and of course, anytime there is an action sequence, we are the ones controlling Max Payne.
Visually speaking, this Max Payne game is truly spectacular. And here’s something fun: you can even go into slow-mo while you make Max shoot at his enemies, which looks pretty awesome.
